Station Manager

Hi everyone, Katie here. Laith and I are your Station Managers this year.
As an entirely objective viewpoint, I can tell you that you are currently tuned into the best student radio station in the country and that you could lose friends rapidly if you fail to let them know, so that they too can share in the magic of Oxide.
Oxide provides not only a wild array of speciality music and speech shows, but also allows you to hear the latest and greatest tunes on one of our many playlist shows. Our new show Oxide Unsigned on a Sunday Evening is a brilliant opportunity to showcase new talent, so send us a demo of your band or let us know of any other fantastic live music that you have heard locally from unsigned artists, then tune into the show and be enthralled by both live and recorded tracks from up-and-coming artists discovered here at Oxide.
Otherwise, I am now going to hand you over to the other members of the committee - never hesitate to get in touch with any of us to find out how to get more involved with the station or to just let us know what you like/ would improve about the station. Oxide Radio is for you, the listeners, so we eagerly await the opportunity to discover what you want to hear live on air 8am - 1am, 7 days a week.
Enjoy! And make sure to tune into Sunday Lunch 12-2pm for music from the sixties to current chart hits, Indie to Country Rock n Roll, and hit stage musicals to live sessions with amateur and professional bands. Anticipate also burning questions asked by the pen of truth, your chance to get deep and meaningful with Katie and Spence.
Til then, Katie x
Head Of Music

Hello. I am your Head of Music this year, which basically means I am here to organise sessions, interviews and gig reviews for you. So, if you want to interview a band for your show, or for the newspapers let me know. Acts we have confirmed so far include Orson, Queens of the Stone Age and Kate Nash. With the new academy opening this term we should have lots of quality acts dropping by. I also do the Filter:UK show on Friday evening from 6 -8, which plays a wide range of exciting new music, from the latest bands from the Indie scenes to obscure bands from far far away. I am also trying to get as many new and local bands as possible on the station, so if you are in a band and want to get your music heard, get in touch!
Head Of Programming

Hello, I am Head of Programming this year. My job is to sort the schedule out at the start of each term and to keep a friendly watch over the day to day programming. We are constantly on the lookout for new show ideas and new presenters to host them, so get in touch if you are interested in getting involved. I am also available as a first point of contact if any presenters have any problems whatsoever, and am responsible for the studio. Call me on 07984 907 125.
Oxide is brilliant, and the programming we have lined up already for this term is hotter than the inside of the sun. From specialist poetry show Voices (Monday 1600-1700) and innovative politics show The Manifesto (Wednesday 1600-1700) to Battering Ram with Metal Thrashing Dan (Thursday 2200-0000), there is something for everyone that can only be found here. Get in touch to get involved, and make sure you tune in…
Head Of News

Hi, I am Head of News on Oxide this year. I have a team of around twenty news readers and researchers, and we have six 3-5 minute bulletins every day at 10, 12, 2, 4, 5 and 7, in which we bring you the latest news from Oxford, and also the national headlines. On top of that we have extended 15 minute international bulletins every Saturday at 5, and sports specials on Saturdays at 7, so make sure you tune in! We are committed to bringing you serious journalism in a listenable fashion, as well as the odd light-hearted story too. If you would like to be a news reader, a researcher, an interviewer, or all three then do get in contact: I have a large team but there is always room for more, and I can schedule more bulletins throughout the day if needed!
Head Of Speech

My name is Lila and I am the new Head of Speech at Oxide. My goal for the year is to produce several new hours per week of amazing speech programming that will have listeners hanging on our every word. Quiz shows, radio dramas, variety hours, documentaries, debate shows…if you can dream it up, I will put it on air. (Probably.) (Okay…not anything you can dream up…in fact, I probably dont want to know what you dream about…)
I am currently looking for hosts, writers, researchers, the whole gamut. Get in touch. We can make your ideas happen, or, if you havent got an original thought in your head, we can do some of my ideas instead. There will be snacks.
Lila
P.S. I got big love for the grad students! I want to hear more grads on Oxide, so grads reading this: please come out of hiding. See above about the snacks.
Head Of Playlisting

Hey, I am Head Of Playlisting at Oxide. Not a lot to this job really, I basically just compose the Oxide playlist each week. In order to get the latest music from record labels I also commandeer a crack team of music reviewers. I send these guys music, they send me well punctuated feedback, which I then forward back to the companies so they get some idea what people think about the latest releases. If you want to get involved with the playlisting team, just email me at the above address. Oh, and if you are an act who wants to get a song on the playlist, send it in! The more music I get in, the better. Also, anyone who listens to Oxide, remember to rate the songs on the playlist! I enjoy it when people do that.
Head Of Online Marketing and I.T.

Hey!
I am James (or more famously known as Bazil), and I am responsible for the online marketing at Oxide. This includes producing the website, applications, and maintaining the pretty Oxide logo!
My other job involves maintenance of the computers at Oxide HQ, and the streaming servers.
E-mail me if you want to become involved!
Head Of Off-Line Marketing

Hi! My name is Catherine and I am responsible for offline marketing, including advertising, parties and the Oxide Awards Evening. If you would like to help in any capacity (generating ideas, putting up posters or writing about Oxide in the paper, for example) please contact me - Catherine Miller at Somerville College. I can also give advice about marketing your own show.
I present Oxide Artspace on a Saturday afternoon too, so be sure to tune in!
Head Of Outreach

Hello All!
I’m Mr. Outreach, that is I reach out to those who are not fortunate to yet be touched by Radio Oxide in all the right places!
Just a little more about me: I’m a member of Mansfield College and a PPE student in the perfect midst of the old degree… I’m one half of the Mansfield Monday Marathon which runs from 3-6 on a Monday with fellow Mansfield student and fellow Paul, Mr. Maiden! Check out the facebook groups for information- or in the programme section on this site…
My job involves two people. Me, and you. You can help me if you:
GET INVOLVED: Are you part of a group that’s interested in finding out more about how to run a radio station, how to research for programmes, how to compile the news, how to present a programme, how to record a band, how to interview, how to be technical… THEN GET IN TOUCH!!! I’d love to hear from you!
SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCES: If you’ve done something similar with your student organisation, school organisation or just a charity or club, GET IN TOUCH!!! I’d love to plunder your sagely wisdom!
HELP ME OUT: If you have a show on the station, plan to have a show on the station or would just like to get meore invoved in the Oxford community to whom we owe so much then GET IN TOUCH!!! I’d love to compile a list of helpers and volunteers!
So you get the picture- outreach is all about you getting in touch with me, to help us get in touch with others, bound together with a whole lot of love!
PWF
Treasurer

Hi, I am Jack, the treasurer of Oxide! I am basically responsible for the money at the radio station: from Michaelmas 2008 this will involve the annual budget for Oxide, and before then it is my job to get money so that Oxide can afford to keep up its sterling work!
Speaking of the sterling work that Oxide does, I present the Bottleneck, which is a blues and americana show at 8pm on Wednesdays. It is awesome, and you should probably listen, or something bad will definitely happen. Probably.
